Your tutor
Meet Aaliyah Connelly.
I’m a fully qualified English teacher with three years of teaching experience and the owner of The ECT Edit. My aim is to make English feel more approachable, whether you’re working through a difficult text or finding the words for your own ideas.
In our lessons, we’ll break the work into manageable steps, talk through examples and give you time to practise. There’s room to ask questions and revisit the parts that haven’t clicked yet.
The proposed programme focuses on KS3 and GCSE English Literature and Language. We’ll agree the right starting point and check your texts and exam board before confirming any lessons.

Getting started
A clear first step.
You don’t need to know exactly what’s wrong. Start by telling us what feels difficult.
01
Tell us a little about you
Share your year group, the subject you need help with and any texts or exam board you’re studying.
02
Discuss the right support
Use an introductory chat to discuss your goals, confirm the £35 lesson rate and agree a suitable time.
03
Agree your starting point
Choose a focus for your learning, whether that’s understanding a text, planning an essay or strengthening your writing.
Before you enquire
A few useful answers.
Have a different question? Include it when you get in touch.
Can I ask about both Literature and Language?
Yes. Tell us which parts of each subject you’d like help with so we can discuss the most useful starting point.
What if I’m not sure where I’m struggling?
That’s a perfectly good starting point. Tell us about a recent piece of work, a question you found difficult or feedback you’d like help understanding.
Do you cover my year group, text or exam board?
The proposed offer is for KS3 and GCSE students in Years 7–11. Include your texts and exam board in your enquiry so Aaliyah can confirm the right fit. Other levels can be discussed, but are not part of the current draft offer.
How much are lessons, and when are they available?
The proposed rate is £35 for a 60-minute one-to-one online lesson. Times are agreed by email, subject to availability. A free 15-minute introductory chat is included in the draft offer; all details will be confirmed before booking.
Can a parent or carer enquire?
Of course. Let us know the student’s year group and what they’d like support with. You don’t need to send school records or personal documents to start a conversation.
What if I need to cancel or move a lesson?
The draft policy allows free cancellation or rescheduling with at least 24 hours’ notice. Later changes are handled fairly, taking account of any actual loss and your consumer rights. Read the full draft policy
