Hi, I’m Aaliyah.

I’m Aaliyah Connelly, a fully qualified English teacher with three years of teaching experience and the owner of The ECT Edit.

English asks students to do a lot at once: understand a text, form an opinion, choose evidence and explain it clearly. The ECT Edit is about making those steps feel more manageable, with resources that bring ideas into view and tutoring that gives students space to work them through.

My approach is straightforward: start with what makes sense, explore what feels difficult and build from there. A useful quotation, a clear example or a well-placed question can give a student a way into work that initially felt overwhelming.

Alongside online English tutoring, I create colourful classroom resources for teachers. Both sides of The ECT Edit share the same aim: to help people engage with English and feel more confident using it.
